Can I trim my Chicken’s Foot Feathers?
Yes, this is recommended, especially during wetter months and for birds such as Sablepoots where they have very long foot and leg feathers if the feathers get too long this can cause issues such as lameness. You simply cut the feather back to about 1inch from the foot or leg, be careful not to cut too close to the foot or leg as you may cut a feather with a strong blood supply at the follicle and it can then bleed.
